Collider has released some new information and stills from the upcoming Doctor Who Christmas Special, The Snowmen!
Doctor Who: The Snowmen marks Jenna-Louise Coleman’s second appearance in the series – she also had a role in the season premiere “Asylum of the Daleks” as Oswin, who died at the end of that the episode. That raises a lot of questions that may or may not be addressed in the Christmas Special as to whether or not her companion character Clara is Oswin, or another person entirely, or whether she’s traveling in an opposite direction in time as the Doctor (which has already been done with River Song).
Both Smith and Coleman have hinted that it’s more likely that Clara is just a new character, but even though the two had chemistry in her brief turn early in the season, it will be interesting to see how that plays out now, especially with the Doctor in deep mourning.

BBC has released the trailer for this year’s Doctor Who Christmas Special entitled ‘The Snowmen’!
Introduced by Matt Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman, ‘The Snowmen’ is the episode that will introduce Coleman as The Doctor’s new companion. Take a look!

A few days after Matt Smith‘s honorable attempt to say something, anything, about the upcoming Neil Gaiman-penned episode of Doctor Who without revealing any specific details (spoiler: he failed), Steven Moffat has stepped up and told us a few things we can expect from the episode. Number one on the list: The Cybermen will be back.
The episode will air next spring as part of the show’s eight episode post-Christmas special run. In addition to Smith and new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman, the Gaiman ep will star Warwick Davis (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Willow… why am I even noting his credits? You all know who Warwick Davis is), EastEnders‘ Tamzin Outhwaite, and Jason Watkins, who played the creepy-jolly vampire leader Herrick in Being Human (the UK version, naturally).
No doubt you will be watching it when it comes back!

The Doctor’s newest companion, actress Jenna Louise Coleman, is finally on set! Check out these cute spoiler-free pictures of The Doctor and his new companion, rumored to be named Clara.
In an interview with Metro UK, Jenna gave us a very vague description of her character’s introduction:
‘I know what my introduction is and I have a general idea of where we’re going to go. There’s definitely a story arc.
‘It sounds really interesting, really exciting.
‘I don’t think anything’s been done like it before, but there are lots of secrets and intrigue, and I think it’s going to throw and confuse a lot of people, and surprise a lot of people.’
What do you think of Jenna as the newest companion?
Now that Amy Pond and Rory are going to be gone, who’s the Doctor going to have as his companion? Well, it was just announced that 25 year-old Jenna-Louise Coleman will take over. She may be well remembered in the British TV series, Emmerdale, which she was in for 4 years, playing Jasmine Thomas. Or maybe you’ve seen her short stint in Waterloo Road as Lindsey James. She was also in 2011′s Captain America: The First Avenger.
This is what BBC America has to say about her:
Well luckily for us, she’s something of a veteran of British TV already, having made a name for herself in Emmerdale, one of Britain’s biggest soaps. During her stint, she was nominated in the National Television Awards, TV Choice Awards and British Soap Awards.
So, apparently, she should be able to handle being on the most popular show in British television.
The Guardian gave this bit about her anticipated appearance:
Coleman, 25, who played lesbian Jasmine Thomas in the soap, will make her first appearance in the Doctor Who 2012 Christmas special.
However, Doctor Who executive producer and showrunner Steven Moffat, who delights in keeping viewers and journalists guessing, declined to reveal what Coleman’s character would be called.
Coleman is reported to have impressed TV bosses in screen tests with Doctor Who star Matt Smith.
One Doctor Who fan texted me this:
She is young but I trust Steven Moffat completely. He has never let the fandom down.
Probably the same can be said for Jenna-Louise, right? Let’s hope!
So, what’s next for the exiting Amy Pond?
After what will certainly be a heartbreaking departure from the show, according to IMDB, she’ll be seen in a TV movie called We’ll Take Manhattan. We wish her well in her future endeavors outside of the Whoverse, along with co-star Arthur Darvill. I know many Whovians will miss both of them.
