A Sunday Afternoon with The Doctor…

A true Whovian will appreciate one artist’s take on George Seurat’s A Sunday Afternoon  on the Island of La Grande Jatte, which sneaks in a reference to what really inspired this scene:

Doctor Who TARDIS A Sunday Afternoon with the Doctor on the Island of La Grande Jatte Parody Print

The seller of this print, ParodiesLost, has this to say about it:

Few realize that Georges Seurat’s original painting was entitled A Sunday Afternoon with the Doctor on the Island of La Grande Jatte and that it prominently included a mysterious blue box. Bowing to peer pressure, however, Seurat removed the strange item from the final painting. Based on this, it has been speculated that Seurat himself traveled with at least one of the Doctor’s incarnations for a time, but no further details are known. [*]

[*]Statements may not reflect objective reality!

This clever TARDIS print is on sale via Etsy for $15.95!

Tomorrow the Doctor’s new companion is announced!// Happy Birthday Freema Agyeman

For those of you Whovians that haven’t already heard, tomorrow is the big day where we learn who/what the new companion is. The announcement will be made at 10:30 GMT. The writers say she  is “pretty” but “not a household name”. So far there has been a bit of speculation on the subject. Some fans are hoping for another human, whereas others feel we are long over due for an alien. Either way, people have been hearing the name Sophia Myles, seeing her and Moffat go back and forth on Twitter.

Things we know so far about this up coming season:

  • goodbye Ponds (it is said to be a rather “heartbreaking exit” and Karen has said that there is a possibility of Amy dying)
  • At some point (I believe its episode 3 of season 7) the Doctor will have an adventure in the American Wild West (We’ll also see a bit of Spain sometime during this season)
  •  The actor Mark Williams will play Rory’s father, Brian Williams
  • River Song will be making an appearance or two

On a different note today is the birthday of a Freema Agyeman, who played a former companion of the Doctor.

Happy Birthday Freema, from all of us whovians!! I for one really enjoyed Martha Jones’ character. I hope to see her again in the anniversary episode.

((On a side note, how would everyone feel about character spotlights? For the different Doctors, companions, and favorite aliens?))

The Doctor’s Daughter Story

I know it’s named after an episode of Doctor Who, but I hope you like this little snippet of a story I wrote;

A woman with very curly blond hair holding her beautiful baby girl, walked down a dark street in the middle of the night, heading towards the orphanage which was one building away from the end of the street. She reached the house and listened to the sounds inside the building – children; crying, screaming, chatting and laughing, she knew her daughter would be happy and safe here – before knocking.

“Just a minute,” called an older female voice, “Come on, Josie, I need to get to the door!”

Eventually the door creaked opened. The lady who opened the door was brunette with a lot of grey streaks through her hair, she had sparkling hazel eyes and she was dressed in a plain white top with black trousers.

The lady with her baby said what seemed appropriate, “Hello, can I please leave my daughter here?”

“Yes of course, ma’am. If you would come through, just down the hall, second door on the left, our nurse’s office,” she said smiling warmly.

“Thank you, thank you very much,” the woman walked down the hall, past a blonde haired girl whom she assumed was Josie, and through the second door on the left.

As she entered the room, a younger lady looked up from her work, she was wearing a normal nurse’s outfit, her hair was a brilliant shade of bronze and her green eyes were glassy from the late hour of the night and as she took in the lady’s sad demeanour.

“Hello? What is your name?” asked the nurse.

“River, River Song,” said the lady as her daughter mumbled in her sleep.

Who Can Do It Better – The Doctor or Sherlock?

Our fans sometimes can come up with the craziest, silliest, funniest, greatest videos. The following is no exception! So, if you’re a fan of Doctor Who (particularly the 11th Doctor), and Sherlock, you may delight yourself in this. Or if you’re just a fan of one of them, then you can argue about it to your heart’s content!  But seriously, how can you not like both, right?
